The first High Tech Developed in Cyprus exhibition successfully took place on Saturday, October 5th at the Trakasol Cultural Centre, Limassol. The exhibition was organised by World Trade Center Cyprus, the organiser of the annual Made in Cyprus exhibition of products and services, in collaboration with Ergodotisi.com, a reputable job search website.

The first exhibition of its kind in Cyprus, High Tech Developed in Cyprus brought together start-ups, international technology companies, companies specialising in the field of technology talent acquisition, investors and individuals working/seeking work in the technology sector.

Mr Christis Plastiras, one of the co-founders of the event, said, 'I have to admit that, being the first year this event has been organised, the level of success exceeded our expectations. High Tech Developed in Cyprus attracted hundreds of visitors, who came to see the 30+ technology companies which were exhibiting on the day, as well as listen to the Tech Talks and participate in our B2B Speed Dating event. The comments we received highlighted how relevant the visitors were, as well as the content of the exhibition, within the technology sector.'

Antony Georgakis, on behalf of the World Trade Center Cyprus, pointed out that the idea started as an extension of the existing Made in Cyprus exhibition, but the great interest from companies and stakeholders prompted the creation of High Tech Developed in Cyprus as a standalone exhibition. By organizing this event we have built a strong foundation to continue growing this exhibition in the years to come.

At the same time, Ms. Katerina Andreou, founder of HR Innovate who participated in the exhibition, said, 'It was a great event, full of interesting people in the technology field. As a recruitment expert, we especially appreciated the speed dating component, which we found extremely helpful.'
On behalf of Melior Capital, the parent company of Ergodotisi.com, Managing Director Michalis Tyrimos stressed that in Cyprus we are still far behind in areas such as innovation and finding technological talent. Nonetheless, he added that 'the landscape is changing. We are seeing start-ups grow and succeed, and technology giants choosing Cyprus as their headquarters. The aim is for High Tech Developed in Cyprus to become an institution and to strengthen the technological ecosystem of Cyprus.' He also noted that the government's intention to establish a Ministry of Research and Innovation is an extremely important and positive development for the Cypriot technological ecosystem.

The event was under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry and was supported by Cypriot Enterprise Link, Heart Cyprus, Digital Champion Cy and Google Developer Group.
